Aromatherapy

Dogs respond very well to most essential oils.  It is very important that you use only the best therapeutic-grade essential oils on animals & yourself.

Please Note: Cats are extremely sensitive to certain smells.  You should not use citrus oils or eucalyptus on cats.  Always dilute oils & use extra caution when using essential oils on cats.

How to Introduce Dogs to Essential Oils:

Always ask permission.  You should never force an essential oil onto a dog without gaining their acceptance first.  Some dogs will not want you to put an oil directly on them.  Because the oils are 100% pure, they are very concentrated and ultimately extremely strong.  A little goes a long way.  If your dog does not accept an oil when first introduced, you can wear the oil on yourself or put a couple drops on a cotton swab and leave the swab in the room the dog frequents the most.  This will allow the dog to slowly get used to the oil without overwhelming their senses.
I allow the dog to sniff the bottle with the cap securely fastened.  If the dog sniffs, licks, takes a hold of the bottle, or paws at it...then your dog likes the oil.  I still recommend putting 1-3 drops of oil in the palm of your hand and rubbing your hands together and once again offering your open hands to the dog for permission before applying directly to the dog.  If your dog winces, turns away from, gets up and leaves, or begins sneezing...it might be too much too soon and you will have to slowly introduce the oil or dilute the oil in extra virgin olive oil, jojoba oil, or Young Living's V-6 Massage Oil.
